Nestled amidst the brilliance of India's finest minds, the Indian Institutes of Managements have earned an esteemed reputation as second to none. Among the IIMs in India, standing tall in the land of Lord Buddha, is IIM Bodh Gaya, the Enlightening IIM. The history of IIM Bodh Gaya reverberates with that of Lord Buddha itself. On January 14, 2020, His Holiness the Dalai Lama bestowed a new mission upon IIM Bodh Gaya, transforming it into "The Enlightening IIM" on that momentous day. Like Lord Buddha, IIM Bodh Gaya espouses the importance of living a meaningful life that contributes to the amelioration of society and strives to train its students similarly. It aspires to be a preeminent management school recognized for its commitment to cultivating socially responsible and mindful business leaders.

IIM Bodh Gaya's mission is to nurture leaders who are mindful of their actions’ impact on others and committed to making a positive difference in the world. It also endeavors to enhance academic excellence in learning practices and research. The institute has developed a solid educational and research foundation, and its alums have succeeded in leading businesses in India and worldwide.

Through its courses, such as Yoga, Mindfulness at Workplace, Emotional Intelligence, The Science of Well-being, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, and initiatives, such as Samatvam- the Mindfulness Center- IIM Bodh Gaya and International Research Conference on Mindfulness (IRCM) have proven that IIM Bodh Gaya practices what it preaches and will never stop in the path of its goals.

Samatvam – The Mindfulness Centre, IIM BG

The world is facing environmental challenges, with issues like deforestation, animal extinction, and ecosystem damage. These problems have serious consequences for both nature and human well-being. However, amidst these concerns, there is a growing awareness of mindfulness and sustainability. Samatvam - the Mindfulness Center, initiated by IIM Bodh Gaya, stands as a symbol of hope and progress in promoting responsible practices.

Samatvam is the concept of equanimity or ‘evenness of mind’. It is a state of equilibrium where one develops an inward tranquility and attains the stability of mind. It is the ability to maintain a balanced and calm state of mind, regardless of the circumstances. It is the skill of being able to experience both positive and negative emotions without being overly attached to either one. Samatvam – The Mindfulness Centre at IIM Bodh Gaya is an endeavour to develop mindful business leaders, who embody the philosophy of ‘samatvam’. IIM Bodh Gaya aims to complement the curriculum of business education by integrating it with the awareness of self and the environment. We strive to create a learning environment that elevates the collective consciousness of the community and inspires a sense of commitment towards mindful practices.

Sustainability is an essential aspect of mindfulness, stemming from profound compassion and empathy for both humanity and the natural world. The Three P's are at its core: planet, profit, and people. ‘People’ advocates for social equity, while ‘Planet’ emphasizes environmental health. Samatvam, the Mindfulness Centre, plays a crucial role in cultivating mindful individuals who become sustainability's torchbearers. These future leaders recognize that the Earth is a gift from our ancestors and that we owe it to future generations. They champion sustainable practices as eco-conscious knights in shining armor, ensuring a harmonious coexistence with nature. Through their efforts, they protect the Earth's natural beauty and resources, paving the way for a greener, more compassionate world and leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
