Plastic waste free campaign

To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings, IIM BG conducted a cleanliness drive across its campus. The drive was organised by Pragati, the social club of IIM BG under the guidance of student affairs chairperson, Dr. Soumyajyoti Banerjee. The event started early in the morning with the short addressal of director Dr. Vinita Sahay. She talked about how the upcoming generations should learn lessons of sustainability by the past generations. Adding to this, she also educated the students on how there is a dire need for sustainable development in the developing countries. Members of hostel and mess committee of the institution were also present on the occasion to take notes from this session which can later be inculcated in day to day happenings. This was followed by an oath taking ceremony wherein the students and faculty pledged to devote atleast two hours per week to maintain cleanliness in and around their surroundings. All the members of the college actively participated in this initiative to make the campus plastic free by collecting pieces of plastic materials lying in the campus and arranging for its proper disposal.
