Background

The higher education system in India is facing a lot of opportunities and challenges. Indian institutions now will start facing competition from foreign universities as they establish campuses in India . In this rapidly evolving landscape, it is important to develop leadership in academic institutions in India to create an environment to foster innovation, excellence and holistic development. The service performance of any academic institution is deeply anchored on the faculty member’s capabilities. The NEP 2020 also emphasizes on the importance of skilled faculty members in higher educational institutions. Since private sector also plays a significant role in higher education sector of India, capacity building of teaching faculty of such institutions for enabling them to become future leaders is a need of the hour. With this objective, Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Academic leadership in Private Higher Educational Institutions is designed to equip faculty members from private institutions with the necessary skills and competencies to excel in both current and future leadership roles. The program focuses on developing technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills essential for effective leadership in shaping the education landscape for future generations. The program will be useful for aspiring faculty members who are interested in taking leadership roles preferably with 3 years of experience. This program will also be beneficial for entrepreneurs who are into the business of education.

About IIM Bodh Gaya

Situated in the Land of Enlightenment Bodh Gaya, the Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM Bodh Gaya), affectionately known as #EnlighteningIIM, stands as a modern epitome of profound knowledge and academic excellence. This prestigious institution is not just geographically, but also spiritually and academically, rooted in the land of Nalanda. IIM Bodh Gaya was founded in 2015 with a vision to create socially responsible mindful leaders under the Ministry of Education of India at the land of enlightenment: Bodh Gaya. The first batch started with 30 students with only one flagship PGP program in 2015-16. At present, it has more than 1,400 students across five long duration residential programmes which include representation from 293 cities, 26 states across India and abroad which makes us among the top five amongst IIM’s in terms of students enrolment. IIM Bodh Gaya Core Values are Responsibility, Honesty and Integrity, Life-long Learning, and Mindfulness. The permanent campus of IIM Bodh Gaya Phase 1 has been constructed over an area of 60,378 square meters. IIM Bodh Gaya catalyses internationalization, facilitating the bilateral flow of knowledge and values through exchange programs, faculty engagements, and research tie-ups through partnerships with 37 business schools and universities spread across the 05 continents.

About Program

The programme intends to provide valuable inputs and training to faculty members of any stream from private institutions/colleges/universities toward their development as future leaders in higher education. IIM Bodh Gaya will accommodate 30-40 participants in this programme.

 Eligibility for Nomination / Selection
  • The participants must be faculty at a recognized institute with at least 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Entrepreneurs of higher education institutions can also participate.
Duration: 5 days 30 hours, Residential programme

Other Experiential Learnings
  • Visit to World Heritage site “Ruins of the former Nalanda University”.

Pedagogy
  Each session is for 90 minutes, with a break of 15 minutes. Each day, there will be 4 sessions. Beverages and snacks will be provided during the break. We will use various pedagogies to facilitate learning.
Certificate of Participation
 IIM Bodh Gaya will provide a "Certification of Participation" after successfully completing the programme.
