IIM Bodh Gaya’s 119-acre permanent campus, delivered by CP Kukreja Architects with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), draws its design language from Buddhist philosophy. Traditional Torana gateways welcome visitors, and a central Bodhi tree motif, visible from across the campus, anchors the institute’s identity around wisdom, tranquility, and enlightenment.
Campus & Sustainability
Creating Mindful Leaders for a Sustainable Future
Permanent campus & green design
National green rating
Awarded under the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA), India’s national rating system for sustainable building design and operation, placing the campus among the more environmentally efficient of the newer IIM campuses.
Built-Up Footprint
60,000+ sq. m. of built-up area across 70+ acres, with landscape design using native plant species to control heat gain and support local biodiversity.
Sustainable infrastructure
Solar Energy System
Rooftop and campus-wide solar PV installations support day-to-day energy needs, reducing reliance on grid power.
EV Charging Infrastructure
On-campus EV charging points support the shift toward low-emission mobility.
Water Recycling & Sewage Treatment
Onsite Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and water-recycling systems, complemented by rainwater harvesting, manage the campus’s water footprint.
Solid Waste Treatment
Dedicated solid-waste treatment facilities handle campus waste on-site rather than relying solely on external disposal.
Nursery & Green Cover
An on-campus nursery supports the plantation and upkeep of green cover across the grounds.
Walkable, Low-Emission Campus
Campus design minimizes fossil-fuel vehicle use in favor of walking and cycling across the 1,600+ user ecosystem.
Recognitions & wellness drives
Fit India FERN Award
Conferred by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for the eco-friendly, low-emission campus design described above.
