Overview:

Dr. Soumya Prakash Patra is an accomplished Assistant Professor with expertise in Business Law, creativity & innovation, social entrepreneurship, and Innovation Management. With a strong academic background and extensive industry experience, he brings a unique perspective to his teaching and research endeavours.

Dr. Patra's industry experience includes working with renowned companies such as TVS Motor Company, and Tata Steel Limited. During his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional skills in research and development, patent filing and prosecution, licensing and agreements, and project management. His contributions as an inventor have resulted in numerous granted patents, particularly in the areas of Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) and Combined Brake Systems (CBS). He has a total of 24 granted patents in India, most of which are already at the implementation stage. He is also a registered patent agent under the aegis of the Controller General of Patents, Trademarks and Designs in India.

Having completed his doctoral thesis on the legal framework for Standard Essential Patent Norms for Two-Wheeler Safety Systems in India, Dr. Patra has published extensively in reputable journals, including The Journal of World Intellectual Property and the International Journal of Intellectual Property Management. His research focuses on subjects such as patent licensing, intellectual property management, and the intersection of technology and law.

Dr. Patra's expertise extends beyond academia, as he has also served as a Director at Kalinga Legal Services Pvt Ltd, where he demonstrated strong business development skills, work execution capabilities, and client management acumen.

With a passion for fostering innovation and cross-sectoral collaboration, Dr. Soumya Prakash Patra is committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge in areas such as social entrepreneurship and technology, AI and law, and cross-functional innovation.
